Preggo Updates!

So, I haven't blogged since we found out we were pregnant! We are on cloud 9! Absolutely nothing can bring us down right now!

I have since taken 4 pregnancy tests total, and had an ultrasound done. Of course all tests are very positive...on one, the test line even showed up before the control line, and on another, it was positive within 1 second. Seriously! So, I guess I am VERY pregnant. ;-)

My midwife ordered an ultrasound at my local hospital on Thursday, and here is a picture from that:

In case you have no idea what you are looking at, the baby is in between those two little cross thingies...super teeny tiny!

I was instructed to drink 32 oz. of water an hour before the ultrasound, so I did. And 20 minutes later, on the way to the hospital, it kicked in! I didn't remember it being that difficult to hold in my pee last time...and then I remembered that I gave birth to twins 18 months ago, and my bladder is still slightly wrecked from that, which means it's weaker than it ever used to be! I check in at the hospital desk and went down to radiology, where I turned in my paperwork and told them my bladder was extremely weak, in hopes they would hurry up. No such luck. Well, kind of. The tech came and got us at 8:05, and our appointment was for 8, but it felt longer than that to me as I dancred cross legged around the waiting room! We got into the room and the tech felt so bad she said she wasn't even going to ask me to change, she said she'd take a quick look, see what she had to see, let me pee, and finish up afterwards. She also asked if I wanted to empty some out, but I told her I didn't think I'd be able to stop if I started. LOL So she tried to start the ultrasound but she said my bladder was bursting and she was going to have to do an internal anyway, so she let me go ahead and pee. Stupid radiology secretaries and their dumb torture instructions! ;-) The tech apologized and felt so bad, but it wasn't her fault. After I relieved myself, we started the internal ultrasound, and got to see our teeny, tiny little baby. At first she said she could only see the gestational sac and yolk sac so she thought I was too early to see any embryo, but then she moved the probe just right, and caught the flickering of the heart beat! That was a huge relief for us! She measured the baby, and said it's heart rate was 100 beats per minute. I asked if that was normal, and she said it just started beating, so it was fine. It turns out, I was only 5 weeks, 6 days. According to the first day of my last period, I should have been 6 weeks, 6 days, but with how little the baby was, that was the new time frame, and with that came the new due date of March 4, 2011! We asked if it was definitely just one, and she said it still may be too early to tell, but she only sees one now and only sees one heartbeat. I then told her that when we were pregnant with the twins, we knew clearly that it was twins at 3 or 4 weeks on the ultrasound, so then she was more confidant that it really was only one. And with my symptoms not appearing as early or as strong as they did with the twins, I have been convinced from day one that it's only one baby too. :-) I have to admit though...it is getting highly annoying to have person after person tell me it's 2 or 3 in there, and they are hiding and it's too early and blah, blah, blah. People think that just because we have twins now, that automatically means twins or more again. If we had concieved with IUI or IVF, that woujld definitely be more possible. I swear I may hormonally flip out on the next person that says something to that effect! ;-)

So, our first real prenatal appointment is on July 29 at 9:45, and I am pretty sure my midwife will want to do another ultrasound at that time, since it was hard to see much this time. I will be about 8 or 9 weeks by that time, and can't wait to see our little love bug again and how big he/she has gotten! You can all be sure I will keep everyone updated on this journey! ♥
