Wordless Wednesday

Fire! (Well...almost!)

When I first met hubs, I thought it weird and at times, annoying that he couldn't sleep at night without a fan on. I had never had that issue growing up so it was new to me. But eventually, I got used to it and now, I can't seem to sleep without a fan on at night, even during the winter months. Just the white noise, I guess.

Fast forward to when our twins were born. Naturally, they slept in our room for the first 4 or 5 months of their life, and got used to having a fan on in our room. By the time we moved them to their own room, it was getting to be warmer outside (May-ish), and living in a fourth floor apartment during the summer makes for very hot and sweaty days and nights, so the fan came into play in their room a lot for that reason too. Needless to say, they have gotten used to having a fan alllll the time, sometimes for the cool air and other times for the background noise.

We put the twins down for their nap the other day, and a few minutes later, we heard them squealing with delight and playing. We went in a couple of times to replace pacis and lay them back down, and once we were back in the other room and doing our own thing, we heard a pop noise. Sometimes they like to bang their pacis on the sides of their crib and it makes the same noise, so we figured that was it or they threw something. Right after that, they started fussing instead of happily laughing and playing. I was just about to get up and go settle them when hubs said, "What is burning??" I didn't smell it until I got out to the hallway to their room. I walked into their room and it was FULL of smoke, and the fan was off. I FREAKED and yelled to hubs and he rushed into the room behind me. I grabbed Merasia and hubs grabbed Connor and handed him to me, and I got out of the room ASAP. The kids were freaking because they had no idea what was going on so I calmed them down while hubs took the fan outside and then he opened the windows and got another fan we have and got it going in their room to circulate the air and get the smoke out. In the meantime, we closed their door to keep them out of the room and after an hour or so the room was cleared out and it was all good.

But it was SCARY!!! I thank God that nothing worse than that happened and that we went in at the time that we did.

So, after all of that, I ended up making a late night run to K Mart to get a new fan when the kiddos were down for the night and the hubs stayed home with them. The fan we had was really old and we have had it for a while, so it's not surprising that the motor blew, but I am glad it happened during the day and not in the middle of the night and that it wasn't any worse than it was! :-)

My Poor Hubs...

Hubs has been so patient with me lately. I just finished my second round of Provera, and am now waiting on lovely Aunt Flo to finally show her face so we can start the second round of Clomid. The Provera is NOTHING to mess around with, trust me. It's awful crap.

I didn't notice much on the side effects end of things the first month. I take it at night, hoping to avoid side effects should they arise. Reality check: It doesn't help.

I have been EXHAUSTED!! Normally I am a little tired by the end of my busy day and night...but this has been insane! I can't get up in the morning, and when I finally am able to drag myself out of bed, I have zero energy to do anything! That with two very active toddlers does NOT mix well! I HATE feeling so run down and tired and like I don't want to get anything done. Blahhhhh. I *think* it's getting better now that it has been a few days since I stopped the Provera.

Next...I get awful gas! I know that may be slightly TMI for some, but...oh well. If you don't know me by now, I am a very open person and will talk about anything and everything...from sex, sex, and more sex, to polotics, to my beliefs on abortion, and any other debateable topic. So, me saying I get pretty gassy from stupid fertility meds is NOTHING, trust me. (LOL) Anyway...in general, I am not a gassy person, even when I eat certain known "gassy" foods. Now, hubs...he's another story. But aren't all men?

Anywho...more gassy than normal, and it's NOT fun.

Along with the gassiness comes these horribly nasty and sickening "sour burps." I don't know how else to explain them. I used to get them allll the time...when I was younger! And they never came back until my first month on the Provera. I thought nothing of it then, but when it happened last week and I realized I was taking the Provera...it hit me that it's probably from that. Tums don't help...Maalox does though! But that stuff is NASTY!

Lastly...the mood swings. I go from zero to sixty in NO TIME. From happy go lucky to complete BITCH.

And, in the middle of all of this, is my adorable hubs. He has been sooo easy going in dealing with my craziness. He hasn't complained or told me to snap out of it or anything. He knows. I am so thankful to have him! ♥

This round of Clomid BETTER work because I can NOT take another month on Provera...so it either has to work, or Aunt Flo needs to show her face on her own next time. But, I like the first choice better and that's what we're "shooting" for.  (No pun intended) ;-)

My Mother's Day

I had a great Mother's Day this year! It was my second! But...the twins were only 4 months old last year:

So they didn't quite get it, but it was still special for me. The year before that, we were pregnant, but I didn't know it yet. We had done our second round of Clomid and were waiting until the end of the month when we could take a test. So, it was a bad mother's day for me, because (as far as I knew) I wasn't a mother yet. I spent the day down and depressed, and crying tons. If only I knew what would happen in the coming weeks....

Anyway, this year, hubs let me sleep in and he got up with the kiddos. Granted, they sleep 12+ hours every night, but it's not like I go to bed at 7 when they do, so I get 7 or 8 hours and after everything I do allll day, I am still SO exhausted! So, he got up with the twins and helped them color some homemade Mother's Day cards for me, and he signed the card he got for me. And then all 3 of them woke me up and gave me the cards. We lounged for a little bit, and then met my mom for brunch, and that was super yummy! The twins PIGGED out, especially Connor!

(Don't worry, it was an empty creamer packet ;-) )

Here is Connor, munching on some french toast! This was after he had already packed himself PRETTTY full on everything under the sun...and he looks like he's ready to BARF LOL

After brunch, we came home and the twins took a 3 hour nap, and hubs told me to lay down too...I was pooped already! lol He let me keep sleeping while he played with the twins when they finally woke up. When I woke up, we went to The Malt Shop, the best and custest 60's style ice cream shop and restaurant, and hubs got me what I had been craving for WEEKS...the special Malt Shop candy sundae...a choice of two ice creams (I get chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookie dough...hehe), hot fudge, butterscotch (I get no butterscotch...yuck lol), whipped cream, reeses pieces, and a cherry. It's better than the description, TRUST ME!!!! The kiddos had some vanilla ice cream, and then we cameback home. Hubs went out later and came back with two white roses, to symbolize each of the twins, and a pink rose (my favorite color) to comemorate how long I had been a mom (a yearish). I don't have a picture of those but they are soo pretty, I love them. :-) He asked what I wanted for dinner, and since we had already gone out twice, I didn't feel like going out to eat anywhere. I simply wanted hubs homemade yummy pizza. :-) So, that's what he made me, complete with wine and candles. A nice relaxing end to a busy yet beautiful mother's day. ♥

Fun Blog Stuff?

Where can I find some cute blog buttons, widgets, blinkies, etc.? If anyone knows, please let me know! I'd LOVE a button for peeps to "grab." :-))

16 Months!

Guess who turned 16 months today?

They are learning and growing more and more everyday!

Connor is still not walking, but he's getting close! He's not delayed and there is nothing wrong, he's just too afraid to let go and take the chance. But, he will soon. He stood by himself for a couple seconds earlier tonight. :-) He weighs about 22 pounds and is about 31+ inches tall. They haven't been weighed or measured in a while, so those are very rough estimates. He says mama, dada, daddy, hi, hey, uh oh, good girl, kitty, ohhh, ba (ball? lol), nigh-nigh (night night), and some other babbles that we haven't figured out yet! He waves all the time, and is a huuuuge flirt with any lady he sees. He has 13 or 14 teeth...I have lost count after all of these months, but he has two more coming verrrry soon! He loves to bob his head up and down when he hears music, and shake his little butt and clap. He has gone PEE in the POTTY twice! He is such a happy boy, always laughing, talking, and smiling, and will play quietly for hours. He has a very large appetite, and I really have no idea where he puts it all...he shovels it in like no other and is still so petite!

Merasia is always on the go but has such a fun personality like her brother. She weighs about 23 pounds and is about 31+ inches tall. She says mama, dada, daddy, mommy, hi, hey, uh oh, good girl, kitty, thank you, yeah, what, good, tickle tickle (usually when she copies me and tickles her brother) and some other babbles that we haven't figured out quiiite yet. lol She has gone PEE in the POTTY twice, and has POOPED in the POTTY ONCE! She has 9 or 10 teeth...one of them is a molar. She loooves to dance and will bust a move wherever she is as soon as she hears music. She also waves all the time, and is so friendly to everyone she meets. She is definitely the social butterfly and I can tell that when she gets older, she is going to be the girl that everybody just loves, because of her personality.

Both of them still sleep beautifully through the night, from about 7 p.m. until 7 or 8 a.m., and are still on their awesome schedule of waking up, getting changed and dressed, eating breakfast, playing, nap, lunch, playing, nap, snack, playing, dinner, and then bed. They are such a joy to be around everyday and I thank God for choosing ME to be their mama. ♥ ♥

Happy Mother's Day!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL OF MY FELLOW MAMAS!

Hope you all have a beautiful, wonderful, special day!

More about mine later. :-)

Wow...

That wasn't that bad...! Leave comments and tell me what you think of the new blog design! I'm not sure how I feel about it quite yet...parts of it I love, and other parts I just don't know. :-) I'm new at this, take it easy on me! lol But, be 100% honest!

:-)

Under Construction...

I am currently playing around with blogger and trying to get a new template, etc. for my blog. So, if you visit within the next week or so and things seem out of whack, it's because they are. But it's okay. Everything will be back to normal soon...

Thanks for your patience! ;-)

Our Recent Potty Experiences

Wow, it's been ages since I have written a new post, besides reviews or giveaways! I have been over the top busy and am still looking for that five minutes to breathe...

Connor and Merasia are doing so well and are more and more fun everyday! I can't believe they are going to be 16 months old on Sunday! :-(

We recently got a potty. We have to get a second one, for those moments when both need to use it at the same time, but we got one for now since they aren't using it constantly. We wanted to get it to start getting them used to it so that by the time they are ready to go in and use it when they need to, they are used to it already and it won't be so difficult. So, we started setting them on it for 5 or 10 minutes before baths and bed at night. The first night we did it, BOTH of them PEED in the potty! I completely did not expect it AT ALL! But, to my surprise and amazement, I heard the little music thingy go off and looked inside when Merasia stood up, and there was her pee!! I even took pictures...

Here is Connor's tiny little bit of pee that he squeezed out...LOL You can just barely see it!

And here is Merasia's pee! Somehow she got dirt in her diaper, and it washed off with the pee...LOL

The next night we tried again...and, as an even bigger surprised to me and hubs...Merasia POOPED in the potty!! Here are pics from that experience...

Connor didn't do anything in the potty the next night, but we aren't expecting them to actually pee or poop every single day. It was just very exciting for it to happen when we weren't expecting it and for it to happen so soon! So, those are our recent adventures in the potty. :-) We will continue setting them on it once a day to get them used to it, and will see where things go from here!

I was sent these two pairs of BabyLegs to review:

They are SUPER cute and I was so excited to try them out, I didn't care if they matched what the twins were already wearing or not!

Not only do they look absolutely flippin' adorable in their babylegs, the twins loved feeling them and looking down at the designs and were very comfortable in them!

They definitely do may diaper changes easier and quicker, and with the rapidly changing Vermont weather, we have made use of our babylegs quite a few times in the short time we have had them!

We don't have much carpet in our home, mostly hardwook floors, and that doesn't seem to bother Connor's legs much when he crawls around, but recently, they went away overnight to my sister in law's home, where she has carpet all over the house. After 20 minutes of playing and crawling around, we realized both Connor and Merasia's knees were getting a little rugburn, so we whipped out our babylegs, took their shorts off, and popped the babylegs on, and voila! Rug burn no more! ;-) Very handy in situations like that!

I look forward to more sets of BabyLegs in the near future...the cute designs are, quite frankly, too cute to pass up!

Little Ducks Organics Review & Giveaway!

I am constantly worrying about my children's health when it comes to some of the foods and snacks they eat. Some of the "healthy baby" snacks on the market today really are not that healthy after all.

I stumbled across Little Duck Organics one day from reading a fellow blogger's review.

From their website:

Our mission as a company is to create healthy organic snacks for infants and toddlers. We know how important the health of your children is to you because we have kids too! We would never add anything to our products that we would not give to our own children.

We pledge as a company to:

•Produce each of our snacks using only organic ingredients.
•Ensure that each of our products is naturally delicious and healthy for your child.
•Never use any artificial flavors, preservatives, or chemically altered ingredients.

I was sent three packs of the Tiny Fruits organic snacks for review.
The first flavor we tried was blueberry apple. My children don't like regular fresh blueberries at all, so was doubtful they would enjoy these snacks. Much to my surprise, they loved them! They gobbles down the next two flavors as well...apple banana and strawberry mango. They gobbled all of these snacks down so fast, I never got a chance to dig the camera out for pictures until the packages were empty!

I love not only that these snacks are organic and healthy for my children, but also that they are easy for their little fingers to pick up, and how quickly they dissolve in their mouth, so choking isn't a concern.

They are easy to carry with me as well, for on the go snacks when we are at the park, out for a walk, or grocery shopping. I just throw a package in my purse and dump some on snack cups, and we're off! :-)

Little Duck Organics is offering up the same three packs of tiny fruit snacks to one lucky reader of A Day in the Life of a Mother of Multiples!

MANDATORY:

1. Follow my blog via GFC (1 entry).

Good luck!!!

Silly Mama Quilts Review & Giveaway!

I LOVE homemade items. But I never have the time or energy to make things myself. I especially love quilts and other items similiar to that, and that's why I fell in love with Silly Mama Quilts. Brooke's products are beautifully crafted and truly works of art.

I was sent this gorgeous table runner for review (candle centerpiece is my personal item, not sent for review):

Isn't is beautiful?? I LOVE the colors and the pattern, and you can feel the high quality of the product with the first touch. And, it's double sided! Here it is on my table with the other side up:

Hubs loved it too, and he is hard to please with things like this!
I love both sides, and switch them often...I can never choose which design I want facing up! It goes great with my candles as well, and just adds the perfect little touch to our kitchen and home decor.

Working with Brooke was easy as well. She was very interested in doing a review and giveaway for my blog, and was super sweet. We were in touch around the Easter holiday, and she kept me up to date on when she would be able to get the runner in the mail to me, so I wouldn't think she forgot about me and wasn't interested. She truly cares about her customer's and their satisfaction.
