Mommy's Accomplishment

I have had one of my biggest accomplishments (besides becoming a wife and mother, of course!). The end of my college semester at my local community college ended this past Monday, December 17th (which also happened to be my birthday!). With that semester ending, I became the proud holder of my very first college degree: Associates in Liberal Studies!

Granted, community college or a two year degree probably doesn't seem like much of a big deal to some people. But, it is for me. I have been working on this degree since 2006, soon after we got married and before we had children. I never went to school completely full time, so of course going only part time took a little longer, but I stopped taking classes during my pregnancy with the twins in 2008, and of course didn't take any classes in 2009 when the twins were born and in their baby stage. I took a course was was not for credit when the twins were a year, and then didn't take classes again until several months later, and then got pregnant with Mason and didn't take any classes through his pregnancy or after he was born, and finally resumed when he was 7ish months old. It has been a LONG road this far of off and on school and juggling taking care of the household as a stay at home mother, keeping up with classes and homework and papers, etc. and of course, the children, so this is a HUGE accomplishment for me,regardless of what others might say or think.

In a few weeks, my official degree will be sent to me through mail, and in May, I will be walking in the actual graduation ceremony in front of all of my friends, family, instructors, and fellow classmates throughout the state, in a cap and gown and the whole get up!

Now, I get a little break from classes and it is very much needed! It feels amazing to relax, catch up on my blog, or catch up on FUN reading, not just reading for classes or homework. At the end of January, I will be attending classes yet again, this time at another local college but not community college, and working towards my Bachelors which will help me get accepted into nursing school afterwards. I am looking forward to moving on with my education process to better the lives of my children and give them everything I can't give them right now, but for now, I'm soaking up the extra time with my babies and husband. And with that, I'll end with some fun pictures of the kiddos and go get caught up on some blog reviews and giveaways that I know you all are chomping at the bit to read! ;)
